Bake Apple Pie
We created a list on our pantry chalkboard of all the things we wanted to do this autumn. Our summer was insane and we felt like we didn’t get to enjoy the summer. With Bruce opening up his new firm we missed both of our summer vacations that we normally take in July and August. Since Memorial Day I believe we’ve taken two days off. That’s including Saturday and Sundays. The illusion of being a business owner is that you have better control of your time and you can do things as you please. Trust me that’s just an illusion.
So these small little excursions mean a lot to us. We do work in the same office but we go hours without talking to each other. We work late hours. Our businesses are our children. They keep us up at night, make us worry, and bring us joy. So just as parents need to escape for date nights. We do as well. It’s a rare occasion for us to be without a phone or laptop as we settle in at night and relax. A night watching tv usually involves reviewing notes from the past day or planning for tomorrow.
We almost missed this expedition on our list. They normally close at the end of October. Since the weather has been clear and not a sight of snow they have opened up the last two weekends.
My guess is that they may not be open for much longer. The trails were a bit rough to go through. I was a chicky baby and stayed on the trails. My leg still is not 100%. It doesn’t take much for me to topple. I blame it 80% on the fact that my left leg isn’t as strong as my right but I’ll completely admit I’m a clutz. So if you cover up roots and boulders with a foot of leaves chances are I’m going down. I am pleased to announce though I made it through with out a fall.
