Organizers at the Chautauqua County Historical Society in Westfield have announced the date for the Second Annual Book and Paper Show – set to take place July 30 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Exempt Hall (75 Bourne St., Westfield, N.Y.).
Even though the event is still more than four months away, officials are encouraging interested individuals to set the date on their calendars now. They are also encouraging any vendors who may be interested in selling items to contact them and reserve a vending booth. Interested dealers can get more information by contacting Jack Ericson at 716-326-2977 or email email@example.com.
The event was a big success last year, with attendees having the opportunity to find rare, scholarly, and out-of-print books in many categories, and much more.
“This is a show for readers and collectors with specific interests,” according to CCHS trustee Jack Ericson, who is once again organizing the show. “Expect to find books, maps, manuscripts and paper materials relation to Chautauqua and surrounding counties. Posters, prints and broadsides will be available, as will stereoview cards and other photographs. At least three dealers carry postcards and many specialize in ‘ephemera’. That refers to transitory items like stamps, greeting cards, stationary, advertising, and even matchbook covers. For many people, items like these bring back vivid memories of childhood and so are highly prized because so few examples have survived.”
This year, admission will once again be $5, with proceeds being used to expand and preserve the historical society’s archives and genealogical research library.
