I’ve been working with the Scandinavian Folk Festival since March. If you’re a regular follower you’ve seen memo’s showing the posters, advertisements and postcards I created. This weekend was the big event, I grabbed Bruce and my mom for an expedition to our first Scandinavian Folk Festival. We were amazed by the MayPole and the beautiful flowers. My mom was contemplating how to get the MayPole and Dala Horse in the car for her gardens.
Gale Svenson-Campbell from Expressive Apparel recreated my design onto t-shirts for the festival. Now I have to say this is the first time, I was surrounded with people wearing one of my designs. It was a little bit odd. I had the sense it was mine and they had borrowed it from my closet. “Hey, wait a minute is that mine.” Working 60 hours on a design you get a little too close with it! And silly me, I didn’t get one when I was there. But I did buy an antique silver Swedish platter. Surprise, Surprise they had antiques!
It was a hot and steamy day but we had a bit of a breeze and enjoyed a Lingonberry Cocktail to cool ourselves while we listened to the music and watched the dancers. We missed the big MayPole music and dance extravaganza but one of the viewers put it on the facebook page. Next year I got to make it to this.
