I’ve been putting off decorating for autumn. It’s been down right balmy in WNY. My studio has been around 74-76 degrees most days. I AM SICK OF SHORT SLEEVE SHIRTS. I dream of turtlenecks, wool pants, scarves… I can’t wait anymore it’s time. I wrangled Bruce into Acorn Shopping with me. There was no arm twisting for my parents. They always are up for a scavenger hunt. Goal was to fill my basket full of acorns.
Bruce took the first half of our photos and neglected to take too many acorn pics. We went out back to my parents trails and woods for acorns. He got a bit sidetrack… First with the pumpkins.
Then he really got side tracked with this cute salamander
I say any mushroom that’s red must be poisonous. Maybe not but it looks ominous.
Look at us scavenging. We’re good gatherers.
We were scouting tree leaves for possible oak trees.
Apples are packed full this year.
My mom’s chickens are ginormous.
Fuzzy Wuzzy Bears!
And time for me to take over and actually get some acorn shots! I’ll show you my finished crafty project hopefully next weekend. Doing an art project to bring autumn to my studio.
My basket was full and my job was accomplished.
But then I remembered I need some pine cones. I gave them a break and then made them go out again. Did I mention it was hot out? The weatherman was incorrect when he said 72 and rain and fog this morning. It had to be high 70s and blue sky. By the time we got to out back, no one wanted to go and get these pine cones. CHICKENS! They had to go through this brush… OHH Prickers, Poison Ivy…
My dad perused the aisles in his golf cart.
The golf cart came in handy though. My mom the monkey got aboard and got the good ones.
Chip the Chipmunk
Then surprise… My dad stole my camera and took a pic of his fountain. One of his favorite things in the world.
Ok, I’m off to clean off my acorns… with my luck that salamander jumped in my basket, I’ll be screaming like a ninny! Salamander’s cute outside not in my basket! More fun then I would have had at the grocery store this morning.
