Email newsletters do work… but I know they are a pain. I’m not going to lie and say they’re fun or easy. I’m just like you. I put them off and have the best intentions. So here are five tips for your next email newsletter that may help you…
- Avoid Certain Words and Punctuation in your subject line.
You may want to use that exclamation point but the spam filter will be triggered. Also think twice from gimmicky words like FREE. All that hard work may not be seen if the email goes into the Spam Filter.
- Include your brand in the subject line.
If they don’t know it’s from you they may not open it. Make sure you use your company name or come up with a catchy name for your newsletter so people know that’s it you and look forward to your newsletter.
- Check your Links
Double and Triple check all your links in the newsletter. Pay close attention to social icons. I see more emails where I click on their facebook icon and it goes no where.
- Clear and Concise
Do your contacts know what to do with your email? Did you include a call to action? Are they suppose to call you for more info or visit your site for more info. Did you explain how your product will help benefit them?
- Send a Test Version
I always like to send a test version out to myself and to another proofer. Never hurts. For some reason, when the email comes through my inbox it makes me see mistakes that I may have not noticed before.
My final advice… Just do it. Even if it has a typo or bad link at least it’s out there. Perfection is something we can always hope to achieve and strive for but the most important thing is that you do it on a regular basis and share your news with your readers.
