Autumn is knocking on the door. Do you feel it? One afternoon coming back from the mailbox I took a moment. It felt like the bus had just dropped me off from one of the first days back to school. The autumn sun was in the sky which is completely different then the summer sun… More of a deep golden maize color touching everything with the Midus touch. Living three houses up from my childhood stomping grounds I get hit with these little moments that somehow I forgot living in the city.
Of course since it’s only the first part of August, I feel like our first summer in the house just sprinted by. I need another month. Just one more full month. Come on mother nature don’t take August away.
As I was picking some hydrangeas for the studio, I noticed that the grapevine had taken over the bush. I just started to pull some out to get the hydrangeas back to their happy bounce. I kept pulling and pulling and thought well I might as well make a wreath now and take a moment to enjoy the fleeting summer.
Nutmeg was very enthralled with me playing with sticks. Ahhh mom those sticks really should be mine.
Sawyer kept stealing all my hard work.
I love the curly qs of the vine.
A simple braid to begin.
Then around and around I weaved each piece. Now it’s just a bit of patience to wait for it to dry.
