Saturday after stripping wallpaper all day, I told Bruce we would have a relaxing Sunday. I lied. Instead the fates had other ideas that I just couldn’t ignore. Everything was telling me that the green linoleum in the kitchen had to go. Especially, since the day before I had aspirations that were thwarted of revealing hardwood floors underneath. There are hardwood floors underneath but painted and covered with tons of glue and black paper. I seriously thought we could finish the project in 3 hours. I was wrong.
Green is my favorite color but this floor just reminded me every morning that it was ugly and it’s time had passed.
First I convinced Bruce that we should just measure out the square footage. Just so we would know what we would need. What’s the harm in that. Then my mom called and reminded me that my grandfather had dropped off some money because he had won at the casino and shared with us. I mean I can’t ignore that???
He looks so happy doesn’t he?
Say hi to the new grey floor. I did love a tile floor at Home Depot that was nice and rustic but it would have taken forever. I have two wobble dogs that would slide all over. And let’s face it I like to change things. Well I like to change things a lot so I won’t feel bad in five years if I need to tear up everything and redo the hardwood.
I have to say the middle section was done in 45 minutes.
It was all the cuts around the openings that killed us!
Meg approved of the decision as you can see.
Six hours later a new look for the kitchen. Next more scraping of wallpaper then the cabinets get a new look and paint goes up on the walls.
