I ran across an article the other day that talked about taking a home inventory and gave options for doing it. Most of those options had to do with writing it all down by hand on logs and workbooks. I automatically turned to my iPad and went to the App Store and started looking. Within minutes I came across 5 separate home inventory apps. Some worked all right, some had one aspect that was great but I eventually came across Nest Egg. I soon realized that it was the app I was looking for. It was the app I wanted because it tracked the inventory, had barcode integration, could use the on board camera to take photos of each object, asked for the best information and allowed me to browse by item location, manufacturer and let me back everything up to Dropbox. I can even track warranty periods and set an alert for Nes Egg to remind me the warranty is almost up. Simple and perfect and under $4.00 for everything I needed it makes me excited to start to inventory my house. I sure beats hand writing everything from room to room.
Dropbox Integration – $.99
