The iPad may be smaller than a desktop or laptop computer but I always tell people that it does not skimp on ability. The Apple iWork apps that include Pages, Numbers and Keynote are a great example of how the iPad can achieve great results in a small package. Granted the apps will be one of your more expensive purchases, setting you back $30 for all of them, but you will have very powerful apps in your arsenal. Sometimes when I look at the comparative Microsoft Office programs I am daunted with the functions and features that are available to me. Once I started using Numbers for my spreadsheets I found that I preferred the touch functionality when creating my documents over the Excel platform. The same goes for Pages and Keynote. I find that I am drawn to the simple interface that allows me to create, format and export what I need quickly and effectively. By trimming off the excess features and functions the iWork apps allow me to do exactly what I need without getting bogged down in things I don’t. At $10 each you cannot afford to wait, download the apps today and start to unleash the iPad’s full potential.
Look for an in depth review of the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps the next three weeks to see just how each stacks up against Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
