It’s gonna be another scorcher today. This is the first year I notice ozone alerts on my phone. Was I too young to pay attention in previous years? The air is an elephant just sitting above the garden already at 10:00 am. I’ve taken retreat from weeding in the house to blog. I think all weeding will have to commence at 9:00 pm.
Our garden is night and day from last year. Our soil is producing a variety of tasty morsels. We are full up with radishes and sugar snap peas. Tomatoes are starting to pop up all over. Finally, my lettuce is coming. It was stuck in limbo for weeks the cooler weather earlier in the week gave them added boost. I planted tons of artichokes and they’re loving the heat. Last year I planted two and they were devoured by slugs. Every morning a new leaf pops out of them. We’ll see if I can over winter them in the greenhouse fingers crossed.
Greenhouse…. reminds me hydrangea propagation is restarting a step one again. Bruce was in charge of the greenhouse last week as I got hit with some sort of creeping crud. The hydrangeas cooked in the greenhouse and all that was left were charred brown remains. Soooo back to the starting gate on that project.
Hope you stay cool today! I’m off to enjoy the pool at my parents this afternoon!
