“The robin flew from his swinging spray of ivy on to the top of the wall and he opened his beak and sang a loud, lovely trill, merely to show off. Nothing in the world is quite as adorably lovely as a robin when he shows off – and they are nearly always doing it.”
― Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
My grandfather has complained for the last month that he hadn’t seen a robin. I told him he had to sit still for more than a second. Our backyard is full of them. If you drive by you may see Nutmeg doing her secret dog spy crawl and attack robin move. She thinks she can catch one if she tries hard enough. This robin is not so delighted with us. We had to cut down one of his favorite perches this weekend.
The tree was a ghoulish spectacle.
