Thanksgiving returns to the Gleason Manor this year. We have been on hiatus for a couple years when my mom was the hostess with the mostest.
I’m in my pjs this morning just finishing up our menu and prepping for hitting Brigotta’s a local vegetable, fruit, and deli store then the big conglomerate store. I hate Thanksgiving grocery shopping. It brings back college days when I worked at a grocery store as a checkout girl. After ringing up your 50th turkey for the day you could feel your biceps grow. The shoppers were crazed with a pre-black friday rush about them. Eyes glazed over, a slight foam in the mouth and never a thank you to be heard or a Happy Thanksgiving Greeting shared. So this Thanksgiving be thankful for your checkout girl especially if you flop down a 2 inch stack of coupons that are expired. Remember she may just be there for a few hours and then off to go back home to study statistical calculus or biochemistry with sore biceps.
I always do a little menu for our guests… I find it creates a bit of excitement for our foodie guests and helps assure those who are less adventurous on what to expect. Here’s ours this year.
