One of the oldest sites we had on the books was The Town of North Harmony. The site was still working on a Frontpage design we made for them circa 2006? The town clerk keeps the site updated and had requested us to design in Frontpage. Think of all those tables and how it looked on a mobile phone. Finally, we got them upgraded to the new site and consulted them on doing their own minutes through WordPress. Now resident can check minutes on their desktop or mobile devices.
We still have a learning curve for the Town and the residents. Things like Search are new to them. They can now search a topic and find the minutes or news items that relate. Doesn’t seem like big news but when you’ve had a Frontpage site for over 10 years it’s big news.
We used to update their minutes for them. They send a pdf over and we would upload it through ftp. Now all the pdfs have been converted to posts.
At our last meeting, they were all confused on why when they print the minutes it came out in tons of sheets. Then I was all confused until I realized they hadn’t ever played with the print button. On the bottom of most of our sites at least you will find a little printer button in your share buttons. The fourth one in above has a printer do you see it? Click on that and you get this screen…
